It's hard to put a date on it, but some time ago, women became emancipated. They invade the workplace, other than housemaids and nurses I mean, and they became a considerable force in the economics of the country. Also in politics do we have women active, and often more so than their male colleges. The emancipation has changed society. It has made many women independent and free. For the family value, many still seek the company of men, which is not always the reason why men seek the company of women. Men for the most part have not kept up with the emancipation and men have not developed and progressed at all. They still live in the past where women had to rely on them for shelter, food and protection. Many men today still do not accept that women are just like them, that they like to be free, independent, strong and in command. I try not to pinpoint exceptions, outstanding examples of excessively strong women, female presidents. pirates even, or scientists. I try to look at the many women that have not had the chance to good or higher education, that have no good paying jobs and that still find themselves in the hands of men that abuse them. It is those men that cannot accept that their dominant role is over. Through centuries of male dominance, men feel that they can abuse women and get away with it. Even today, even here on Sint Maarten do men beat up women and think that they are right. How to stop this is beyond my comprehension other than to tell every man who reads this that he must watch himself and all other men he knows. That every man must look deep inside and find that he is only half of Gods creation, and that woman is the other half, which makes us equal. If man has rights, so has woman. if he can screw around so can she. If he can work, so can she.
If there is no equality, then slavery is not yet abandoned. Mental slavery, economic slavery. And religious slavery as well, because the Bible makers of old where men who did not want to admit the power of women and women have been underrated from the first days of so called Christianity. They could not and still cannot get into the high church jobs, reserved for men only. How long it will take before men understand what it means to love a woman or how to love women, apart from getting sexual favors of them, nobody knows, but every man can start to watch his own behavior and in case it needs adjustment, do it. Is it not amazing that for the protection of battered women a foundation had to be made: Safe Haven, while no such thing is needed for men. That should explain enough.
